Prezence Digital partners with bidorbuy to extend mCommerce offerings

Prezence Digital, one of South Africa’s leading digital agencies and native mobile app specialists, have partnered with bidorbuy.co.za, Africa’s largest online marketplace, to extend their mobile offerings into a world class app for Android devices.

Bidorbuy, which is the country’s leading online marketplace, bringing buyers and sellers together to trade almost anything through online auctions and fixed price sales, was voted the public’s favourite eCommerce Website in 2011 in the eCommerce awards and has over the years ranked as the number 1 eCommerce site in country.

A recent study from inMobi in July 2012, indicates that the propensity for shopping on a mobile phone is steadily on the increase. To capitalise on this market, bidorbuy.co.za has partnered with Prezence Digital,  pioneers in the mCommerce field since 2005 with South Africa’s first transactional mobile site for entertainment giant Ster-Kinekor,  to assist them in creating the ultimate shopping experience app on the Android platform.

Prezence Digital’s native mobile applications department combines the best user experience with the most innovative technology and the multiple international accolades it holds to its name attest to the department’s front runner status in the mobile space for native development across all handset platforms.

Lynette Hundermark, head of product strategy at Prezence Digital, says “One of the many factors to the success of implementing a strong mCommerce strategy is providing a great mobile shopping user experience where customers expect to be able to find what they want, with the minimal amount of time and effort possible with the necessary product information being key.”

“The bidorbuy experience on a mobile phone should be thoroughly enjoyable and as good, if not better, than the web versions keeping the customer wanting to return.”

Jaco Jonker, Chief Executive Officer of bidorbuy.co.za, says allowing bidders and buyers access to their platform no matter where they are was a key factor in the decision to make their website’s offerings mobile.

“We wanted bidorbuy users to have the same simple, enjoyable, and secure experience they’ve come to expect from the desktop website. The decision to partner with Prezence Digital on Android app development was easy as the agency recognises the importance of solving complex business problems through enhanced mobile user experience alongside their technological know-how to create world class mobile applications” he says.

According to Tim Bishop, chief technology and innovation officer at Prezence Digital, while mCommerce is starting to gain traction in SA, “It is important for retailers to realise customer needs must be placed first and we play the middle man role ensuring a win-win situation for brand and user.”

“With so many international benchmarks already set in the mCommerce app space, our goal was to ensure the app we build for bidorbuy.co.za will be unique, convenient, interactive, compelling, secure but most importantly stand proudly alongside the world’s greatest apps. From browsing and searching to completing a purchase, we aim to ensure the consumer’s bidorbuy shopping experience is fully optimised for the android mobile app user,” he says.
